I know Mac screens are only 60hz, but you can hook up external monitors through the display port adapters. With a newer Mac, you could probably get competitive level performance with a Windows boot. It definitely compromises my skills though, so I only ever play mini games or watch demos. On the Mac boot, CS is pretty much unplayable in terms of performance (not to mention the horridly buggy mac version of the game). My MBP is 2010 so it is far from top of the line, and newer titles really stress the GPU. I try to play most games on my Windows boot simply for the better performance.
